Landscape Architecture College of Design

MLA + MURP [dual degree]

This degree option allows students to earn both a Master of Landscape Architecture [MLA] and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning [MURP]. Students will be able to achieve both professional degrees in four years and typically follow a career path in the following areas of specialization: land use/urban design, housing and community development, and environmental planning.

Please note that enrollment in the dual degree program is limited and competitive. Students must apply to, and be accepted by, both programs to complete the MLA + MURP dual degree. Typically, students begin by applying to the MLA program and spend their first year of graduate studies in the MLA program. In fall of this first year, students apply for acceptance to the MURP program. Please review the program plan to see the full list of required courses and sequencing.

To meet [LAAB] standards, 89 graduate credits are required to earn an MLA. A maximum of 18 credits taken to fulfill MURP degree requirements may also be counted toward fulfillment of the MLA degree requirements. Please refer to the Master Urban and Regional Planning program for MURP degree requirements.
